We’ve updated our
cancellation policy
for last-minute stays to make it fairer for both guests and hosts. Previously, guests booking within the 5-day last-minute window could only cancel
within 1 hour
of booking. This was designed to protect hosts from shared Hostshare nights not being applied to their listing while blocking out their external calendars during that period. However, we found that this short window sometimes left guests stuck if a host didn’t respond quickly. After gathering feedback from our Hostshare Focus Group, the majority preferred a longer window — so we’ve extended it to
12 hours
. 
How It Works Now
- Guests booking within the 5-day last-minute windowcan cancel up to12 hours after bookingand receive a full refund.
- This gives guests more flexibility while still respecting host calendars.
- Hosts keep protection against very last-minute cancellations that could otherwise block their availability.
- Guests must still contact Hostshare Support to cancel a stay.
- If the request is within the 12-hour window, we’ll make sure it’s handled quickly and correctly.
